On the front of staff research, Elias feels closer than ever to finally finding the soul anchor which contains Akmenos. Corvan also reveals that the staff Akmenos used has gone by many names: Merumakh, The Dungeons of Yl, The Binding Branch, and The Black Rose of Curella. With Irving's permission, Corvan is allowed to present his findings to the Order of Eternals and The Mystic Council, in order to gain access to rarer historical records and reading material.
With Sojourn's defeat in their grasp, the party must decide of how Delia will be ruled after Varic's defeat. Sloane recommends defeating her father, Henry Val'Myren, so that she will be able to rule House Val'Myren and rally the adjacent noble houses. In order to infiltrate House Val'Myren's complex passageways, Sloane enlists the help of Braxton, the son of her father's cartographer. With the help of Braxton's expertise, the party is able to enter House Val'Myren, defeat the form-splitting Henry Val'Myren, and allow Sloane to take over House Val'Myren.
