Born in Chelebons to Chieftain Ruadh Sildairan, Liberty Sildairan was destined for a life of service. Though the mountain nation of Escarnes is known to many as a tribal backwater, filled with superstition and holy folk, the high scholars of the world know it for another reason entirely - Escarnes is home to the Order of Eternals.
Liberty was the youngest of four siblings, born one year to the day after her older brother, Teague. The Chieftain is seen as an important repository of knowledge should the other members of the Order fall, and his children were all expected to join in their adulthood. Some would not get the chance to. In Escarnes, children who reach the age of ability (15 for women, 16 for men) are sent to the Caverns of Becoming, a long held mystical site where one’s deepest flaws are tested. Tradition is unflinching in its process - those who share birthdays go in together. Liberty and Teague were no different, and while it was unusual for siblings to share the experience of becoming, it was not unheard of. However, both Liberty and Teague had experienced their magical impetus, and both were unusually powerful even for those gifted with such capabilities at their age. It is thought that the flux of latent power from both overwhelmed the cave’s energies, which burst, striking Teague and killing him on the spot. Liberty took the experience to be her test, one that has continued her entire life.
While her time in the Caverns of Becoming weighed heavily on Liberty, she had two caring brothers to lean on - each who helped her through their unusual childhood in their own way. Over time, Liberty grew to be an extremely capable and valued member of the Order in her own way. The Order tends to send operatives who are in their prime on their most important business, and Liberty with her brothers were sent together for a span of some years. As they became more valuable for their experience and brains than their considerable brawn, each was sent to individual assignments, protecting the Eternal Aspects in various far reaching places. Liberty was sent to Etlan, crossing the Beryl Sea on a massive cargo barge, and hasn’t returned since. She stays in touch with her brothers, who have both visited her since that time. She thinks often of her youth, but has grown comfortable in her solitary life. There is purpose in such a thing.
