As Elias struggles to find the soul anchor that Akmenos is hidden in, Maeve and Corvan present Irving with good news. They have discovered that the staff Akmenos has is extremely rare, and is carved from the Baraskan tree. The staff was also created by another owner over a millennia ago, and was given the name "Merumakh". Although they hypothesize that the staff may be named after the lover of the sorcerer who created it, the scholars of the group decide to do more concrete research into the origins of the staff and its' meaning.
Following the capture of Redhill, the war strategists of the group decide to target Canopy Bridge next. This is because capturing Canopy Bridge would prevent Varic from receiving supplies and weaponry. Using Sophia's knowledge of the terrain, the group is able to mount a pincer attack on Canopy Bridge and capture it.
